Performance Of The Egyptian Marriages
And Authentication Of Marriage Certificates


1. The Consulate can establish a marriage between a man and a     woman that are not married before. It also performs the     authentication of marriage, which is the legalization of marriages     that happened before through a non Egyptian authority.

2. One of the marriage parties must be an Egyptian citizen.

3. Husband must be 18 years old or over, and wife must be 16     years or over.

4. The Consulate can establish marriage only for Moslems. For     Christians, the Consulate can only authenticate all their     marriage certificates issued from their churches, or local     authorities.

5. Both the husband and the wife must be present in the consulate
   with their passports and 4 passport pictures for each of them.

6. To authenticate a marriage happened before, they must have the     original certificate of that marriage.

7. The consulate gives a copy of the Egyptian marriage certificate     to the husband, a copy to the wife and sends a copy to be     registered in Egypt.
